RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist or complete their initiation into the Catholic Church. (From the Instruction for the Rite of Initiation). Our parish offers a program of instruction and faith formation designed to welcome adults and teenagers into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Adults and teenagers learn about the Catholic faith in separate classes but share together in the prayers and public rites of the formation process. The Adult RCIA classes are open to persons 18 years or older. The Jr. RCIA classes are open to persons age 13 through 17. This is the program for you if:
The RCIA program is a collaborative effort of area parishes and involves priests and lay leaders from each parish. Parishes participating in this program include Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, West Plymouth; St. Bonaventure, Manomet; St. Mary, North Plymouth; St. Peter, Plymouth Center; St. Joseph, Kingston; and Our Lady of Lourdes, Carver. Participants meet together for instructional classes in the St. Peter Parish Center but meet for Sunday worship at their home parish. Students below the age of 13 prepare for the Sacraments through the parish’s Religious Education Program. High school students seeking confirmation are also prepared through the Religious Education Program. |
