Proclaiming the Liturgy of the Word at Mass
The ministry of Lector is a very important part of the celebration of the Mass. Lectors are scheduled to serve on weekday and weekend Masses (see the section below for information about Youth Lectors at the 10:00 AM Mass).
Prayer is an essential part of the Lector preparation. The reader must spend time to prepare and reflect on the reading. Lectors need to speak slowly and deliberately to proclaim the Word as it is written. Spending time in preparation provides a more meaningful experience for the whole congregation. Whether you are a Youth Lector or an Adult Lector, it is essential to work with the Lector schedule person to arrange your schedule of Mass coverage and commit to the personal responsibility of finding another Lector to read for you at your scheduled Mass.
