Since its debut on September 23, 2005 as the Medical Transport Program, the St. Bonaventure NEED A RIDE program has striven to unite those who are without transportation with those who can provide them with a ride. Founded by and under the able direction of Kevin McCarthy, with help from his wife Nancy and a generous team of volunteer drivers the program has grown and prospered.
While it was originally intended to provide transportation to a variety of location present, present demand forces us to specialize in medical appointments. Customarily these are limited to the immediate area but we can occasionally provide rides as far as the City.
The schedule is open-ended so it is best to call as early as possible; at the time the appointment is made is best. For the convenience of all, Monday appointments are scheduled with the previous week so should be called in no later than 10 days ahead. Tuesday through Friday appointments can be made up to noon the previous Friday.
Calls are accepted Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until noon. You can leave the details on the answering machine but note this is a private family phone so that the answering message will be very informal.

We are always looking for drivers, so that if you have transportation, time and would like to meet some very interesting people, please call to volunteer. There is no required commitment. Your schedule is up to you. Calls are generally made on Saturday and you can choose what fits into your schedule.
