Fund for the Needy

The Fund for the Needy of Saint Bonaventure Parish was established in 1980 by Sister Jeremy Horgan, CSJ. Sister Jeremy recognized that many families in the community of south Plymouth needed assistance for food and shelter. She organized parishioners to provide support for those in need.

Today the Fund is managed by the Parish Outreach Coordinator with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers.  The Fund continues Sister Jeremy's example of love and service to others by offering food, heating fuel, electricity and other urgent needs. The Committee also offers information to families about social service agencies in the area, provides Holiday Dinner Baskets, and sponsors a Family-to-Family Gifts program for children at Christmas. Last year the Fund for the Needy Committee was able to provide emergency assistance to over 950 families in south Plymouth who were facing severe financial difficulties due to loss of employment, crisis situations, and the higher costs of basic living expenses.

Your donation to the FUND FOR THE NEEDY provides urgent help for families for:

  • FOOD
  • HEATING FUEL
  • ELECTRICITY
  • HOLIDAY DINNER BASKETS
  • CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR CHILDREN
